Chairman - Chris Brooks - May 2013 This years Drive it Day/Picnic nearly didn’t happen because Doug was advised just a week before the event that the ground at Mad Bess Woods was too soft and there were fears that it would be damaged by our cars. Doug and I were almost on the point of cancelling the event when John Davis came to the rescue with a recommendation that we contact the Chiltern Sports and Social Club at Maple Cross as this is where the Morris Register meets. Doug and I visited the club and John; the Steward, could not have been more helpful. All the facilities were made available to us which included the bar, kitchen and very clean toilets. So it was that we had a great day with over 30 cars gathered in their field which was close to the club house, even the weather was good.
I would like to thank the following club members for making it so successful, Denise and Rob for buying the cakes, Joan and Mary for helping, Doug and Joan for organising all the arrangements and finally John Davis for his advice on the location. We hope to be able to use these club facilities again in the future as everyone who attended seemed to enjoy themselves. I have included a selection of photographs further on in the magazine.
Last months club was a first in that our speaker was a professional comedian. I wasn’t sure about the talk I thought we might have as it was not easy to work it out from the title but nevertheless it proved a very entertaining evening. While I was there I confirmed that we will be able to have a BBQ at the July meeting, if you would to join in just complete the enclosed booking form and send it back to Malcolm.
Our next event as I write this, is the Mayors Charity Day and I am hoping for good weather for this and the rest of the Rally Season. .
